A new phase – introducing the Business Council

Business needs a fresh relationship with Government working together in real partnership to fix our economic challenges, seize opportunities and build an economy that works for all: one that is fit for the future. We’re listening to leading businesses about issues such as sustainable growth, productivity, people and work, and innovation.

That is why we have launched a national campaign – Where Business Belongs – to invite businesses to join us as we build on our partnership with Government to seek out opportunities for a better more sustainable Britain.

As part of this campaign, we have launched a new Business Council, to convene and discuss the major trends and challenges facing business and industry to guide our policy work.

This is targeted at large companies and institutions who want representation rooted in their local communities and the ability to shape the national debate.

Members will also have access to a unique blend of benefits and services at a national level as well as membership of their relevant UK or international Chamber.

The Future of the Economy: The key National issues the Council will address

The BCC has identified five core national challenges that will shape the Future of the Economy:

The Business Council will design and drive the Future of the Economy initiative which will be convened by Baroness Martha Lane Fox CBE. Its members will be uniquely placed to help shape our thinking and engagement around these core challenges.

We will also appoint a high-profile Chair and policy commission structure for each Challenge, which will develop fresh and compelling proposals for government.
